Me Auld China Cake Stands

Our cake stands are created from authentic vintage matching and mismatched china.

We offer a great selection of cake stands from 1-tier to 5-tiers, with lots of beautiful colours and patterns covering many periods and styles.

The China
All plates are individually hand picked, based on shape, pattern, design and condition. We customise plates from many well known china houses including, Royal Tara, Royal Grafton, Tuscan, Colclough, Grosvenor, Masons, Aynsley, Royal Vale, Broadhurst Bros Burslem, Royal Albert, Johnson Bros and many more. And there are always unidentified makers, the only criteria is the china must be gorgeous!


Our plates are sourced from far afield and close to home, everywhere we visit has something new and individual to offer. The china is always in good-to-excellent condition, either matching to create an exquisitely elegant stands, or mismatched but complimenting for shabby chic style.

Handles
We use a variety of handles for our cake stands chosen to enhance the plates to perfection, ensuring every one is individual and unique.

Dismantling & Assembly
Our lovely cake stands can be easily dismantled by unscrewing the handle, making cleaning and storage very easy.

Rental Service
The cake stands are available for hire for special occasions such as weddings or parties. Cake stands used in multiples create a dramatic table-scape!

Pimp Your Plates
We also provide a bespoke service where we can pimp your plates, giving your plates a new lease of life.

Caring for Your Cake Stand

Our cake stands are lovingly hand made from vintage china plates, which makes each one unique and special. The plates used to make your cake stand are a little part of history and have sometimes survived two world wars as well as a long family life!

To ensure that your cake stands lasts another life time we advise the following care instructions:

Dismantling:
  • The cake stand can be very easily dismantled by unscrewing the handle.
  • Start with the screw at the base plate, and loosen with a standard star (or Philips) screw driver.
  • Once loose, remove by hand. The handle can then be easily unscrewed by hand.
  • There will also be little plastic washers to protect the china so be careful not to lose these.
  • The best way to store the washers and handle is to screw it all back together.
Assembly:
  • Start with the base plate.
  • Place the screw with a washer through the hole of the bottom plate.
  • Place a washer over the screw.
  • Turn the first handle section by hnad until it tightens with the screw.
  • Place the next washer on top of this section and below the hole of the nest plate and so on. 
  • There should be a washer above and below each plate this helps to protect the plates.
  • After doing this by hand finish tightening the base screw with a screw driver to ensure stability.
  • Do not overetighten, once you feel resistance that will be sufficient.
Washing:
  • As with any good china, avoid using a dishwasher.
  • It is best to wash the plates by hand as a dish washer may corrode the gold/silver rim finish or the patterns on the plates.
Enjoying:
  • Most importantly use your cake stand at every opportunity as it will add a touch of elegance to any occasion!
  • They're not just for cakes, we always have one in the kitchen full with fruit
  • Don’t forget that a 3-tier cake stand can always be made in to a 2-tier by removing one of the plates and handle pieces.
